Sie befasst sich speziell mit den Auswirkungen westlicher Fernsehprogramme auf nigerianische Universitätsstudenten. Die Studie geht davon aus, dass die aktuellen Trends im kulturellen Verhalten der nigerianischen Jugend, wie sie bei den Studenten der Federal Polytechnic Bida beobachtet wurden, in signifikantem Zusammenhang mit ihrer Wahrnehmung der westlichen Kultur und der Exposition gegenüber westlichen Fernsehprogrammen stehen. Die Annahme, dass ausländische Medieninhalte direkte und starke Auswirkungen haben, wird von der optimistischen Modernisierungstheorie geteilt. Aus der Durchsicht der verwandten Literatur ergaben sich die folgenden Hypothesen, die getestet werden sollten HI: Mehr TV-Exposition führt dazu, dass westliche Fernsehstars als Vorbilder identifiziert werden. H2: Die Verbesserung der lokalen Fernsehfilmindustrie wird die Vorliebe nigerianischer Jugendlicher für lokale Fernsehprodukte erhöhen. Die Forschungshypothesen 1 und 2 wurden durch die Analyse der gesammelten Daten mit Hilfe der Umfragemethode statistisch untermauert Empfehlungen zur Überprüfung des kulturellen Völkermords für die weitere Forschung wurden vorgezogen.

As a freelance journalist, I recently work on a writing project that required me to conduct survey in some Nigerian High Schools. Schools were randomly selected in some states across the nation. To my surprise, the result of the survey revealed that majority of Nigerian Schools doesn't have, at least, a trained counselor as part of their staff. Students, staff and even parents are left alone to battle with their academic, social, psychological and emotional challenges, problems and difficulties. This is quit shocking! I personally imagined lots of benefits that our school communities had missed because of failure to employ school counselor. Most especially, I pitied the students who daily have growing need to share their problems with an exposed, trusted and relational expert but are denied such a privilege. But, this was not the situation in the past. Schools in my own high school days had trained counselors to attend to students, staff and parents. To worsen the matter, most of our tertiary institutions also don't have Guidance and Counselling office and staff. Consequent on the above facts, I pick up the challenge to write on this subject.The book is therefore written to enlighten the general public, school proprietors and administrators, and the government about this omission in our schools. However, it's ultimately written to advocate for the establishment of guidance and counselling services in our elementary, secondary and tertiary institutions of learning. I do hope that this piece will be instrumental in bringing revolutionary change in this respect. Happy reading!

This study probes the impact which TV has on the cultural values of the Nigeria youths. It specifically tackles the impact of western TV programmes on Nigeria University students. The research posits that the current trends in the cultural behaviour of youths in Nigeria as observed among Federal Polytechnic Bida Students are significantly associated with their perception of western culture and exposure to western TV programmes. The assumption that foreign media content has direct powerful effects is shared by optimistic modernization theory.From the review of related literature, the following hypotheses emerged for testing HI: More exposure to TV will tend to the identification of western television stars as models. H2: The improvement of Local TV movies industries will increase Nigerian youths¿ preference for local TV product. Research hypotheses 1 and 2 received statistical support from the analysis of collected data using the survey research method Recommendations to check the cultural genocide for further research were preferred.
