Movement and rest, time and eternity, material and traces are united in the sculptures of Susanne Tunn. The artist's sculptural work is all about detecting the essence of the stone and laying it bare. When working on the stone, she follows the natural structures of the material instead of violently forcing it into a specific form.The book brings together works from the past 30 years. Some of them are presented for the first time ever. Tunn's cycle of works "Die Große Melancholie" (The Great Melancholy) is also showcased in its entirety for the very first time. This cycle is composed of a series of complex, geometrically shaped sculptures made of Andalusian Macael marble, inspired by Albrecht Dürer's famous copperplate engraving "Melencolia I".Aside from working with stone, Susanne Tunn uses liquid tin that can be formed and casts it in grids and various structures of order in her expansive works. In addition, Tunn's exquisite and delicate works on paper, showing objects that seem to dance in a state of zero gravity, are presented in this volume.

Das Buch spurt der Interaktion von Kunst und Kommunikation nach, die mehr meint als herkommliche Vermittlung, die auch den Rahmen wirkungssicherer Inszenierung hinter sich lasst. Abseits voreiliger Instrumentalisierung werden Moglichkeiten beschrieben, mit Kunst in Kontexten vielfaltiger Lebensbereiche zu kommunizieren. Dies schliet beabsichtigte Wirkung ein, richtet sich aber besonders auf komplexe Designs von Bedeutungen, die an Brennpunkten kultureller Wertsetzungen die Debatte uber gesellschaftliche Selbstbilder herausfordern. Die Verknupfung von Kunst und Kommunikation bezeichnet demnach ein Thema der Grenzuberschreitung, die kontrovers strukturierte Szenarien in den Blick nimmt.

Stefan Lüddemann unternimmt den Versuch, Kunstkritik neu zu bestimmen und zeigt, dass sie mehr ist als der Richterspruch einiger weniger Experten, nämlich eine evaluative Praxis, die Wahrnehmung artikuliert, diese mit thematischen Diskursen in Beziehung setzt und schließlich eine Kommunikationsofferte unterbreitet.
