After He "planted a garden toward the east, in Eden" (Genesis 2:8) and created a man to live there, the LORD God said it was not good for him to be alone (Genesis 2:18). He then formed a woman from one of the man's ribs, creating a "helper suitable for him" (Genesis 2:18), one who would help the man fulfill God's commands to care for His garden and to procreate. Nowhere is it stated or implied that the woman was to be the man's subordinate. Yet, what has happened since then? In the world and in the Church, rather than being honored as equal to men in God's eyes and in His plans, why have women become oppressed, ill-treated, and subjugated to men? Why do church leaders relegate women to bake sales and children's church and deny them the right to operate in the God-given anointing of a five-fold ministry? When Jesus appeared on earth in the first century, He indicated a needed breaking away from conformity to human traditions in favor of obedience to the commandments of God. "This people honors Me with their lips, but their heart is far away from me. But in vain do they worship Me, teaching as doctrines the precepts of men. Neglecting the commandment of God, you hold to the tradition of men" (Mark 7: 6-8). Applying these words in the twenty-first century, in its interactions with women, is the Church following human traditions or obeying God's commandments?

In the beginning, God created all things (Genesis 1). As the Creator or Author of those things, He had authority over them and formulated the laws and rules by which they were to operate. God also created mankind (Genesis 2:7, 21-22). As such, He has authority over men and women and, by both spoken and written Word, has proclaimed the commands and requirements by which they should live and thrive. However, over the centuries, mankind has grown more and more insistent that it alone has the right to make up the laws that govern the human race. Throughout the Bible people have tried to wrest the mantle of governmental authority from the merciful and loving shoulders of God and to place it on the greedy and ambitious shoulders of men. Even though cultural preferences have changed, the word and will of God have not. Even though religious values have declined, the word and will of God have not. Even though moral values have plummeted, the word and will of God have not. Help for this world is cannot be found in education, religion, science, secular humanism, or government. It can only be found by returning to the values established by God, learning His word, obeying His will, and following His way.

The Bible is an amazingly accurate history book.Full of allegory, prose, poetry, and letters, it is a journal of the thoughts, deeds, and actions of God's kings, priests, prophets, and people over thousands of years. It is also an instruction manual for those who seek Him today.1 Corinthians 10:1-6 states: "For I do not want you to be unaware, brethren, that our fathers were all under the cloud and all passed through the sea; and all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea; and all ate the same spiritual food; and all drank the same spiritual drink, for they were drinking from a spiritual rock which followed them; and the rock was Christ. Nevertheless, with most of them God was not well-pleased; for they were laid low in the wilderness. Now these things happened as examples for us...."In these verses, the apostle Paul, author of a large portion of the New Testament, links the ancient Israelites to new Christian believers. He also announces the natural events and paths chosen by these forefathers in the faith were recorded and written down so that, ages and generations later, they would be instructions for the spiritual events and paths chosen by each Christian and true Church. From our twenty-first century perspective, Paul's words have proven to be prophetic since the stories mirror each other. Three sets of footprints follow the same journey.
