Innocent men do go to prison and stay there for decades. Chicago. 1946. Joe Doheny is seventeen, enrolled at the University of Illinois, Navy Pier, but he has a secret life; he's a burglar. Joe's parents migrated from Ireland and surviving the depression, they managed to keep their family together. Even though he holds down part time jobs, he steals so that he can continue in school and help his parents financially. Joe is finally caught for petty theft by the police and arrested. And less than five hours later is charged with murder! He is questioned and brutally tortured for days at the Cook County Jail and finally, in fear for his life, he signs a confession. Without a trial, he plea bargains and is sentenced to life, with parole. The next fifty one years are told in vignettes by Joe [middle aged], and seventeen-year-old Joe, often on stage together. Joe tells his story in an interview with an anchor person from a television news magazine. His quest for freedom, the people supporting him; the woman in his life who has stood by him for three decades. The death of his beloved mother, the friends along the way and finding the man who actually committed the murder. The tale unfolds in a series of flash backs until the audience finally realizes that there is no happy ending to Joe's story and that Joe is still in prison after sixty plus years.

New characters include: Thomas, the sea turtle, pedantic but loveable. Laughter erupts when readers realizes that he speaks only in nautical lingo. Patsy, the spider is adorable in spite of her greed. Rose, Emma's mother emphasizes maternal devotion and the ability to believe as the magical creatures of the forest reveal themselves to her. Hazard, Lord of the Underworld reunites with a lost love.

Cutting among teenagers is on the rise. Under great stress from teachers, peers, and parents to excel, it is one way that they try to get relief. Here is one family's story.
A children's play (fable) about climate change and endangered creatures. Two sister Aardvarks arrive in the Fabled Forest by accident. Their travel agent, Time Portals to Your Next Adventure, malfunctions and instead of Australia, they are plopped down in Cheets' clearing in the forest. Here they meet Donald, the fairie, Cheets, the elf, Emma, the farm-girl, Patsy, the banana spider and all the creatures that inhabit the mystical forest. Agnes and Annie are so ugly they're cute. With their jaunty hats atop their weird heads, with their rabbit-like ears and short elephant type snouts, Emma and Donald are entranced. They set about helping the two aardvarks to complete their trip to Australia while helping other endangered species. But first the Portal must be repaired so it operates correctly.The Aardvarks are joined by the Painted Wild Dogs both are on the endangered species list. It is a dangerous lifestyle. In this fable children learn more about climate change, destroying habitat and about other endangered species and how we humans can help to protect them. The story teaches gentle lessons about climate change and endangered species. Ages: 3--12

Alone, with a huge secret, many of them look to suicide as a permanent solution to end their pain and confusion. Surrounded by bullies at school who call him a freak, isolated because of his secret, this young boy born in the wrong body, is at a dead end. Life is just too painful to bear another day. Desperate to end it all, he reaches out to his mother in a final attempt to find someone who might understand him.

Cheets, our beloved elf from past books joins the wrong crowd and his friends are worried that he will become the newest member of the Bully Boys. The story teaches gentle lessons about literacy, bullying and ageism. The book pays special homage to the classical fairy tales with appearances by little red riding hood, the wicked stepsister, the three little piggies and many more as they wander through the Fabled Forest.
We meet Violet Guyer again....a woman grown and on her first adventure outside the tiny town of Tumwater, Washington. She has been invited to San Francisco to play women's semi-professional basketball. Not so unusual you say? Not today, but this is the 1920's. This full length stage play is set in the roaring twenties in San Francisco. Violet, one of the sisters from "The Guyer Girls," has grown into a beautiful woman with children of her own. In the intervening years she has had a successful athletic career and has since bought her own bar and grill. She is a 'flapper' in every sense of the word; working all day and playing all night. While her teenaged daughter raises her seven year old son, Violet is out on the town! Usually with her man de'jour. Her second marriage is a stone around her neck and she is about to get rid of her loser husband who is a compulsive gambler. She has the next husband all lined up. But, Jay, her boyfriend, has eyes for Violet's teenaged daughter. A dark drama with comedic relief provided by the two children.

More than 1 in 3 young people have experienced cyber threats online and half of young people do not tell their parents when cyber bullying occurs. Over 25 percent of adolescents and teens have been bullied repeatedly through their cell phones or the Internet. In extreme cases this has led to assault and/or suicide.

The two children are possessions that she can put down or pick up again on a whim. To show off to her current beau or friends and then forgotten. And when they get in her way, she gets rid of them.
