Over the course of a long and very successful career spanning the first half of the 20th century, Lucy Kemp-Welch established herself as one of the leading equestrian painters at work in the UK and one of the country's best-known women artists. David Boyd Haycock's new, extensively illustrated biography of Kemp-Welch brings this remarkable artist and her work back into sharp focus.   Born in 1869, Kemp-Welch first came to the art establishment's attention in 1897 when her immense painting, Colt Hunting in the New Forest , caused a sensation at the Royal Academy's Summer Exhibition; the work was bought for the Nation by the Chantry Bequest in the year of exhibition. In 1915, she illustrated Anna Sewell's Black Beauty , and was commissioned to paint images for the Government during the First World War. Later, the mural Women's Work in the Great War , was placed in the Royal Exchange in London, where it remains to this day. Respected art writer and curator Boyd-Haycock shines new light on Kemp-Welch's life, writing from a 21st-century perspective and reflecting on her as a female painter in a male-dominated environment. Alongside Kemp-Welch's paintings, the book will feature exclusive period photographs of the artist herself, shown at work and in her studio.

"The Wonderful World of Lydia Courteille Explored in New Book."  -   JCK Online "...The colorful, eye-catching gemstones splashed across each page are a feast for the eyes, and in a poignant display, Courteille's playful pieces are depicted alongside illustrations of the women who inspired them."  -   Only Natural Diamonds "Sometimes provocative, sometimes sensual and always full of passion, Courteille puts jewels in the spotlight that beguile, enchant, surprise and are definitely real eye-catchers."  -  Lovely Books For more than 40 years, Parisian jeweller Lydia Courteille has been confounding the Place Vendome jewellery houses with her bold and brazen designs. Her unique and avant-garde style is legendary. Her collections spark the senses. In this impassioned new biography, Juliet Weir-de la Rochefoucauld takes us on a voyage around the world, sharing the stunning locations and famous women from whom Courteille draws inspiration. In the disposable world of 21st century consumerism, amidst the monotony of marketing algorithms and ceaseless production lines, Lydia Courteille has forged her own creative path, refusing to let the individuality of her work slip from her fingers. Her jewels crystalise memories, honour the dead, make powerful social statements, poke fun at modern absurdities, and transport us to the other side of the planet. Guided by an acclaimed author and jewellery expert, this colourful monograph renders her odysseys of creation and discovery in stunning visual detail.

"To page through its contents is to tumble down a rabbit hole of carved gemstones, cloud shapes, and gleaming colored aluminum (with a gorgeous mad genius of flame-red hair as your guide)."  -  JCK Online "The Sheibani monograph deftly weaves together Sheibani's personal life and her jewelry, exploring ways in which one feeds the other."  -  The Magazine Antiques Cora Sheibani's jewels are the product of a highly active imagination. Her creations are designed to surprise and delight - miniature cakes and jellies that look good enough to eat; rings and bracelets that glow in the dark; shimmering clouds with diamond raindrops; jewels that stare back at you, and plant pots billowing with vegetation. Her design handwriting is predicated on a bold sense of form and colour, allied with a playful, contradictory mindset. Her design philosophy is to make jewellery she herself wants to wear and in doing so, she trusts that her customers in turn will appreciate and value her personal aesthetic. Cora Sheibani - Jewels is published to mark the 20th anniversary of Cora Sheibani's eponymous brand.

"His is a warm, charming page turner of an autobiography: from start to finish full of fascinating characters, incredible and amusing anecdotes, self-effacing humour and wry asides, beautifully detailed observations and, of course, stuffed with great nuggets of jewellery and art history."  -  The Jeweller Magazine "In this dazzling memoir revealing his encounters with royal and celebrity clients including the Queen Mother, Sir Elton John, Dame Joanna Lumley and Frank Sinatra, Antiques Roadshow presenter and jewellery expert Geoffrey Munn reflects on his stellar career, having spent more than five decades bejewelling some of the biggest names in the world."  -  Hello! "In this colourful and witty narrative, Geoffrey Munn, OBE, MVO, FSA, FLS, best known as a presenter on BBC's Antiques Roadshow, reflects on his career in the London art world, spanning over 50 years."  -  Arts & Collections magazine "Discover delightful anecdotes from Fabergé expert Geoffrey Munn's time at Wartski in 1970s London, featuring encounters with royalty, Hollywood icons, and the pursuit of Imperial Eggs."  -  The Jewellery Editor Born and bred in Sussex, Geoffrey Munn, Antiques Roadshow presenter and jewellery expert, came from a traditional rural background - but only weeks after leaving a country Grammar School in 1972, he was plunged into the vortex of the London art world. It was the beginning of the career of a lifetime at the famous firm of Wartski, whose showrooms scintillated with gem-set necklaces, tiaras and three of the famous Fabergé Imperial Easter Eggs.  In a colourful and witty narrative, Geoffrey relates his daunting but delightful encounters with HM Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, HRH Princess Margaret and HRH The Duchess of Cornwall. In their wake, Geoffrey met a rich variety of luminaries, including Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, Joanna Lumley, Stephen Fry, Elton John, Vivienne Westwood and Dame Edna Everage. This is certainly a rapid and amusing read but it is also unique study of a narrow and fast-changing society.

Multiple Exposures - Allen Jones & Photography explores the numerous ways in which artist Allen Jones has engaged with the possibilities of this medium. Historian Philippe Garner has researched Jones's extensive archive to develop and present the insightful narratives implicit in this remarkable, often surprising selection of images. Studying at Hornsey School of Art, then at the Royal College of Art till 1961, Jones achieved swift success within a dynamic roster of artists celebrated as 'The New Generation: 1964' at the Whitechapel Gallery, London. Alongside his practice as a painter, sculptor, and printmaker, Jones nurtured an ongoing fascination with photography. This volume - an important addition to the literature on Jones's oeuvre - reveals how he was first drawn as a student to the camera's potential, making his earliest experiments in black and white. Through the sixty-plus years of Jones's career - using camera and, more recently, iPad, and iPhone - photography has become ever-more integrated within his wider practice as an artist. We observe his incorporation of 'found' photographs within his early collaged works; we discover the photographs he has taken as a visual ledger of all that intrigues him; we see a telling selection of the imagery that he has collected, mostly drawn from vernacular sources, such as post cards, newspaper cuttings, and magazine tear-sheets; we find his playful images of his studio and its juxtapositions; and we follow his investigation of the ways in which his paintings and sculptures can interact and invite fresh readings when transmuted into photographs. The images in Multiple Exposures , mostly hitherto unpublished, are supported by an introductory text by Philippe Garner and by revelatory chapter introductions and pertinent pull-quotes by Allen Jones. The dynamic design of the book is by the legendary graphic artist David Hillman.
