Why did the chicken cross the road, you might ask? Well, my friends of the congregation; some people truly believe the chicken actually crossed the road merely to get to the other side. While other energetic human beings thought the chicken crossed the road, because, he'd heard Colonel Saunders was coming! Still, with my heart tenderly tucked in my hand, I'd like to tell you the true reason why this brave manly-man chicken crossed the road. "The real reason why the chicken aggressively crossed the road with style is that he wanted to lay it (his important message) on the line and this was the proper time to do just that, indeed!" There is no other possible answer, am I right? In this book, I'm now going to emulate this particular chicken by continuously laying my important messages on the line for you without needless worry. What am I going to place on the line you may ask? Well, now that you've asked me, I'm going to lay an absorbing amount of truth (common sense and philosophy) on the line, although, it may hurt your feelings. Guess what? I could care less! As a matter of fact, this author, this entertainer, this businessman, really does not care what you think of certain situations for this book is filled with a host of long overdue truths and now is the proper time to boisterously discuss our internal demons here and now! Of course, I'm talking about both of our demons. But, someone has to do it, right; so, why not me? Who else is going to take the negative feedback; again, why not me? Be sure to remember this when it's your turn in the barrel!

When I was working on my first book, "Everything's Rosy! The John N. McCain Story," about my Dad, I learned a lot that I did not previously know, and also learned a lot about my Grandfather, Joseph P. McCain, who I had not known at all. In fact, I learned enough to inspire me to continue researching his life with the goal of being able to record his life's history for future generations. I could see a lot of my Dad's character, work ethics, and principles that he had gotten from his father, even though he had passed away when his only son, John, was just 15. Dad is now 101, and these principles have been a part of his life for all these years, and I was hoping to uncover some of the sources.That also got me started working on several other books about people who had inspired me and been an influence on my life. The one person who I recalled influencing me most outside my immediate family was my uncle, Col. William C. Brewer. This book comprises an overview of Balondo phenomenology that could be seen as a welcome contribution to the growing body of cultural literacy in Africa as a whole where African cultures are continuously being displaced by the 'dominant' European colonial culture that is visible in the schools, churches, language, government, and business enterprises. In that light, its main thrust is to educate the world about Balondo customs that are similarly on the verge of elimination and total extinction. To accomplish that goal, the author who is a son of the soil has made an excellent first attempt in describing how Balondo in Cameroon deal and cope with their 'contractual' relationship with the social world and the spiritual world. This small book is about the thoughts of our long-haired dachshund derived from the inquisitive look in his eyes as he humorously tells us about some highlights of his life. It especially enumerates his observations and concerns about some of the "Rules" that only dogs must live by.We (the author and his wife) have had a dog for most of our 53+ year married life, but little MacDougal seemed to have a personality all his own, more so than our previous pets. He was more demanding and during his time with us seemed to have these questions in his little mind. He probably had more, but these I wrote down with no real plans of actually putting them into a book. However, a few years later, after having written several other books and having them published, I thought that others might enjoy these thoughts, and other dog owners would identify with "Little Mac's" observations. Once I decided that it might be good to do the project, several more years evolved before meeting Penny Medders and her introducing me to one of her art students, J.P. Creamer. I simply explained what I wanted to express in each drawing, and he did an excellent job of creating the images. These were actually his rough drafts from which he intended to make the final drawings, but I liked what he had, and for the purposes of this book, I felt that they would serve quite well. I hope you, your children, and grand-children enjoy reading this as much as I enjoyed working on it. Perhaps one of your pets will have a similar idea and can write their own book or add to this one!
