The author hopes anyone who reads this book is able to find something that they can relate to.About the AuthorMy name is Christina Fontenot. I was born on December 13, 1988 in Covington, Louisiana. When I was fifteen years old, I suffered a traumatic brain injury from a go-cart accident. I was in a coma for fourteen days. That accident changed my life forever. My short-term memory was severely affected. Even though it was difficult after the TBI, I graduated from high school in 2007. Confused and uncertain of my future, I decided to go to Springfield, Missouri to try to change my life. When I got to Springfield, even though I was working numerous minimum-wage jobs, I found myself homeless and living in a homeless shelter for six months. I was looking for direction and heard about Missouri Valley College through friends and decided to again try to make a better life and future for myself. When I arrived at College in Marshall, Missouri, I was scared and uncertain if I would be able to be successful due to my TBI. My student loans and grants covered my tuition and room and board, but I needed to find a way to make some money. I did odd jobs for one of the faculty members and then eventually got a job in the college library. College classes were difficult for me and I wanted to give up several times. However, with hard work, determination to succeed, and help from the great faculty and staff at Missouri Valley, I managed to graduate in 2017 with an Associates of Arts Degree. I had always liked writing poetry, but it wasn't until one of my English professors told me that she wanted to publish one of my poems in a publication of the College called the "Purple Patch," that I realized it might be something I did well. In 2019, I married the love of my life, Isabel. We currently live in Louisiana with our dog, Coco.

About the Book"Why don't we spend much more of our time studying the art of negotiating? Perhaps a major reason is that divorce is a process, and not much of our legal education is focused on the process. The goal of this book is to explore in detail the scope of knowledge and skills that would be appropriate for professionals who are involved in the negotiation of divorce agreements. This is a book about negotiating! And since all of this negotiating takes place in the context of the divorce process, this is also a book about the divorce process!" - L.D. GaughanNegotiating Strategies and Challenges in the Divorce Process represents the professional legacy of my father, Lawrence D. Gaughan, a monumental pioneer in the field of family law and mediation. Completed months before my father's death and published posthumously, this book serves as an academic textbook, as well as a developmental guide for professionals. I remember around the time my father turned 65, I asked him when he planned to write a book related to his life's work. His response was, "I will think about it when I get closer to retirement." Twenty years later, with his practice finally starting to wind down, he announced that he had completed the final edit of his book. Just a few short months after that, he was suddenly stricken with aggressive metastasized melanoma. He passed away on June 23rd, 2019. But, my father lives on in the artful illustrations of his brilliant ideas interwoven and crafted into these chapters. I am honored that, in his final wishes, he entrusted me with the task of making sure his contribution to the field of family law was properly published and promoted. Anyone, from the lay reader to the family law professional, will find this book to be enlightening. It is a thoroughly informative, insightful, and creative examination of how the art of negotiation can be used most effectively in the divorce process." - W. Lawrence Gaughan (son of Lawrence D. Gaughan)About the AuthorLawrence D. Gaughan was the founder and Professional Director of Family Mediation of Greater Washington. He earned a J.D. from the University of Montana (1957) and an LL.M. from the University of Virginia (1964). L.D. Gaughan practiced family law and family mediation in Northern Virginia from 1979 until his death in 2019. He was also a law professor at the University of Virginia, Washington & Lee University and George Mason University law schools. In 1979-80, L.D. Gaughan took a sabbatical from W&L to study family systems with Murray Bowen, M.D., and his staff in the Department of Psychiatry at Georgetown University. He was a member of the Virginia State Bar since 1967. From 1975-1999 he gave the annual keynote lecture on Family Law at the Virginia State Bar Association Conference. As an attorney, L.D. Gaughan consistently received the highest ratings for both legal ability and ethical standards ("AVR PreeminentTM") from Martindale-Hubbell. He was also rated 10 out of 10 by Awo. He was a founding member of the Professional Mediation Board of Standards, a 501(C)(3) board formed to frame and implement standards for professional family mediators, and was certified for collaborative practice. In September 2017, L.D. Gaughan received the Distinguished Mediator of the Year award from the Virginia Mediation Network at its annual conference in Richmond. In 2019, at their convention in Boston, he was posthumously recognized with a lifetime achievement award from the Academy of Professional Family Mediators.

He got his degree in fine arts, but as he continued writing, he realized that what he really wanted was to tell stories and that's when he decided to become an author. Now he's working hard to pursue that dream of creating the worlds he sees in his mind and share it with as many people as he can and he's able to do this because of his loving family who supports him and his goals. Espinosa says, "My hope is that when people read my book, they will be able to understand just how important family really is, that they will be able to be grateful for what they have, and that they will be able to see things from a different perspective. I'd like to think that what makes my story relevant is that it will help readers understand what it really means to get a gift and know how much love people are capable of."

Max O. Thompson-Eleogu is a native Nigerian, who lives and was schooled in the United States of America, for both his undergraduate program and graduate program. He authored the book AFRICA---THE ROAD TO AFRO-MODERNITY. He is a Distinguished Fellow and founder of NobbleAfriq Institute, a select and innovative think-tank, whose trajectory is the transformation of African politics and its people. He was trained as a philosopher with an unwavering interest in African philosophy, African American philosophy and Continental philosophy. His other interests include African Mysticism and Spiritualism. We are living in a period where the old age is dying, and the new age is not yet born. We must ask ourselves these questions. What is an authentic lifestyle? What is the proper social order? These are significant questions, and as crucial as they are, they need answers and answers that are true. Rather, the consensus is that these answers are beyond the apprehension of Africans. Other questions covered in this book are: What is the human soul? Why do we suffer from the disintegration of the soul? Are we truly free or dependent on the iron rule of the machine world? What is cosmic thought and its relation to human soul? What is the problem of intuitive flash and the myth of Western modernity? What is national identity and values? These questions have their root in the symptom of disrupted historical period that plagued the world and the entire continent of Africa. The plague obliterated our ways of life, and it was replaced with a machine world which denied us of the mysteries of the living earth and the human soul. Currently, this plague continues to haunt us because post-colonial African states were born out of this plague. In this book, I believed that the problem of Africa could be resolved in placing it in a wider context of world historical consciousness because Africa is a part of the world and its crisis.
