The thirteenth edition of McGregor's Who Owns Whom presents a summary of the annual report of every company listed on the Johannesburg stock exchange, plus those on the stock exchanges of Harare, Windhoek and Gaberone. For each company, the data presented include: ultimate controlling shareholder, shareholders above 1%, directors, addresses of registered offices, nature of business, year end, number of employees, capital structure, financial statistics and ratios, subsidiaries, associated companies and investments. Comprehensive indexes reveal the ownership of approximately 16,000 companies, the share portfolios of major S.African investors, and the cross-directorships of 4000 directors of listed companies. Detailed schedules provide additional data including newly listed companies, companies recently delisted, companies categorised by sector, companies listed by financial year end, company name changes, unit trusts, mines working results, and much more.

This book is the published record of the papers presented at a conference of the Norwegian Petroleum Society (NPF) held in Bergen, Norway, on 3-5 October, 1988. The conference was initially proposed and promoted by the Geology and Geophysics Advisory Committee of the Norwegian Petroleum Society consisting of: A. M. Spencer (Chairman), M. Brink,J. D. Collinson, S. Hanslien, D. M. D.James, T. B. Lund, K. Messel, E. Ormaasen and G. Saeland. The programme and more detailed planning of the conference was carried out by a programme committee consisting of: J. D. Collinson (Chairman), O. Eldholm, E. Holter, D. M. D.James, H. Tykoezinski, D. Worsley and S. M. Aasheim. There were 245 participants at the meeting and 36 papers were presented as talks with a further 9 presented as posters. These proceedings are representative of the range of topics covered. The meeting was characterized by a high level of discussion which has influenced several authors in the final preparation of their written papers. These proceedings have been edi ted on behalf of the Norwegian Petroleum Society by J. D. Collinson with help from H. Tykoezinski. The editor and the organizing committee wish to thank all the referees who reviewed papers and all the authors who responded so fully and promptly to their comments. Building societies occupy an important position in the U.K. financial services sector and potentially in the Continental European market, too. This book provides an in-depth examination of their structure and performance within a deregulated and increasingly competitive business environment. The modelling of minerals and silicated materials presents a challenge for theoretical solid state physicists, quantum chemists and molecular dynamicists. Its possible applications lie in different fields ranging from earth science to the design of new materials. It is worth noting that the modelling of such materials has been promoted first by the earth science community who need realistic estimates of the high-temperature and high pressure properties of the minerals present in the mantle in order to build realistic models for the dynamics of the earth's interior. The difficulty of such modelling is due to the diversity of elements and types of bonding involved in such systems and also to the numerous polymorphs which correspond to a given chemical composition. This collection of contributions aims to report on the most efficient and reliable modelling approaches and to give the present state of the art.
