"With over sixty years of combined experience in Southern California's Temecula Valley, food and wine pioneer, Martha Culbertson and beloved historian, Rebecca Farnbach bring you Flavors of the Temecula Valley Wineries. Together they invite you on a journey to one of the Top Ten Wine Destinations in the world and encourage you to indulge in its rich "Flavors" only made more bold and bright by the warm sun and arid soil. Never before has there been as extensive an exploration of the abundant flavors of the Temecula Valley Appellation until now. Many of the recipes in this book have been in Martha's repertoire for decades and are as diverse as the worldly travels that inspired them. The wine pairings are equally varied and as unique as the wineries, winery owners and wine makers themselves"--

In this powerful work, Shadows of Sherman, the evolution of this landmark institution, the Sherman Indian High School, is presented through Lorene Sisquocs unparalleled lens of understanding and knowledge of the long, storied history of Sherman. Since 1991, Lorene has been the Curator at the Sherman Indian Museum, while her association with Sherman goes back decades before her curatorship, as she was literally raised at Sherman by her mother Tonita Largo Glover and her grandma Ida Gooday Largo. Lorenes collaborators on this remarkable project are the esteemed Dr. Cliff Trafzer, Costo Professor of American Indian Studies at the University of California, Riverside and Dr. Jeffrey Smith of the University of Hawaii, Hilo. Together, the authors have culled remarkable archival images, stories and documents and with these, they have woven the history of Sherman that has never been available until now.
Paymkawichum Pomtkmay (Baskets of the People of the West), is an intimate pictorial journey into the world of Ataxum basketry. This collection of images allows readers to experience the beauty of Native California baskets against the Southern California landscape. Each basket included in this book has come back to the Pechanga Cultural Resource Center for care, rest, exhibition, and protection.
Many generations ago, along the Klamath River, there lived a wise woman who wove the most beautiful baskets known to humankind. Her baskets were woven so tightly that water could not penetrate them. She was aging and had many experiences to share. Through prayer, she began to weave a basket for the people. The wise woman worked day after day, weaving, praying, and singing. As her strong hands moved gracefully over her materials, she shared a story to be retold, a song to be sung again, and a lesson to be learned. When she finished, she had created a large beautiful basket bowl. She called this basket Ka'm-t'em because it held the treasures of the people.
