A series of murders is happening in a small town in New South Wales. At first, some are not even recognised as murders but appear to be accidents and a suicide. But in all cases, there is not a single clue as to the perpetrators. The Detective in charge of the case is baffled. And why are the killings all occurring on the ninth of the month? As she begins to identify the deaths as murders, she is faced with a crisis that could threaten her sanity and even her life.

Garry Barton is an Australian business consultant working for a Chicago-based accounting firm. He reviews his firm's computer technology and advises the partnership that they are severely at risk because of their outdated systems. This so enrages the partners that they fire him. Garry joins a small, advanced accounting group and builds up their consulting business, much of it by taking away clients from his old firm. They begin to panic and try threats of violence against him. This doesn't work and the partners become more and more panicked as they see their firm decline and eventually the try and have Garry killed.

Taree Scribblers is a writers' group based at the library in Taree. It has been in operation since 2010 and has a number of published authors of both prose and poetry in its membership. The group has published previous works, including "Duets" a collaboration between writers and artists, a collection of short stories and now this history and record of its activities since its founding.

An elaborate plot is devised to save the child and snare the criminals.

Erwin Biener had a comfortable middle-class life as a child in Hungary until the Nazis arrived. He and his mother had to go through terrible times, first under the Nazis and then under the Soviets before they were able to escape and reach Canada. This book relates some of the scenes and horrors he experienced and the difficulties he and his mother faced when they finally made  it to Canada.

Allison Bentley is a successful IT Consultant with an old-fashioned accounting firm in Chicago. She is also gay. She causes anger in some partners by her criticisms of the firm's obsolete technology and business practices and she is fired. She joins another firm and begins to take business from her old employers.
