My great-grandfather Sven W. Swenson was born in 1886 in Sweden. He met and married my great-grandmother Agnèta. They soon left Sweden and made Wisconsin their home, and in 1913, they had my grandfather Lloyd. Sven always had a passion for art and the outdoors. He loved being outside, capturing God's gifts on film. Sven taught my grandfather how to hunt and fish. The Great Depression came along, and money was sparse, so hunting and fishing was food on the table. Sven often went out with his son to capture his life in time. While time stood still with the photos, his mind did not. Sven made it his life's mission to capture nature's glory in the purest form. Sven really wanted to publish his photos and poems, but due to the economy, he was unable to do so. I am the great-granddaughter of Sven and have been blessed to find a legacy that had been captured so long ago. All of this has been tucked away amongst passages of time and life of what was. Now everyone can enjoy the raw and emotional images and photos and see the beauty through his eyes of what the Lord has provided. Sven passed in 1938, Agnèta passed in 1970, and my grandfather Lloyd passed in 1992. Lloyd is on the cover of this book, who's legacy will continue. Thank you, Sven, and all of my family members who have passed, for allowing me to help accomplish a passionate dream, and letting this come alive with the Holy Spirit.- Arlys Swenson, great-granddaughter of Sven Swenson

How many times have you walked by a homeless person? Or read about someone hurting or in need and felt conflicted? How often have you spoken to a stranger more nicely than your husband? How often have you looked in the mirror and not liked the person looking back at you?Walking By the Homeless is a book about ordinary life intersecting with awareness. It is about one suburban woman's journey from ignoring the homeless to identifying with them by becoming mindful of gaps in her beliefs, actions and relationships in her heart and home. This is a story about doing something in Jesus' name in our cities, country clubs, kitchens and the crevices of our souls. Walking By the Homeless is not a glamourous or romantic journey, but it will challenge you to think and help you live and love with less regret.
Letters from Art - Art Hawkins Standing Tall under the Shadow of Aldo Leopold traces the life of one of Leopold's first graduate students, Art Hawkins, over the course of more than nine decades. Leopold, recognized worldwide as the father of wildlife ecology and the concept of a land ethic, also played a key role in molding his students in his image, and Art proved to be just that. Author Ken M. Blomberg has expertly provided a unique view of history and examples of relationships forged between people and land and to each other through the personal letters and stories of Art Hawkins. Through ordinary accounts of an extraordinary life, we are treated to a rich narrative of humanity and beauty, not just to the evolution of Art Hawkins, including Leopold's role in this, but to the evolution of Leopold's thinking through his students, especially Art Hawkins.Author Ken M. Blomberg is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin in Stevens Point (UWSP) with a degree in Resource Management and past Executive Director of the Wisconsin Rural Water Association. Ken is now retired, owns a dog kennel near Junction City, WI, and writes full-time.
