In January 2021, I found a lump on my right breast. Less than one month later; I was diagnosed with breast cancer. A day I will never forget. One of my ways of dealing with this diagnosis was through writing poetry, often when sitting waiting for appointments or at moments during the day when inspiration came. It was a way to document my journey through cancer- both the good and the challenging. The poems are written in date order and are like diary entries to document the various stages of my treatment. This cancer journey is unique to me, as I am aware that everyone's cancer journey is so different. My message to all reading this book is the importance of breast self-check. And maybe for someone else out there who is going through or has gone through cancer, these words might provide some comfort or understanding. Writing poetry helped ease the journey of illness for me. Cancer can be a solitary journey, but by harnessing the intense emotions it generated into poetry, I found a community and support. Like me, many other cancer survivors found beauty and grace interwoven with their devastation, and an intense appreciation for life after going through cancer. These poems felt like snapshots of the beautiful and terrible moments, and writing them was as therapeutic for me as the treatment I was receiving. And for some, writing poetry can be a powerful way to express their feelings about cancer and their journey back to health. All profits from the sale of this book go to a cancer charity who are so dear to my heart: Cork ARC House, which supported me on my journey through breast cancer treatment. Thankfully I am out the other side and in recovery. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything you do for anyone undergoing cancer treatment and for their families.Details about the work of Cork ARC House can be found on corkcancersupport. ie. Please purchase to support the ongoing work of this amazing charity.

Are you being farmed? This is a fictional story about how the taxes you pay are being managed. If you are happy with the way your Government manages your taxes this story is not for you! If not read on. After years of observing the management of Governments in different parts of the world, the fictional characters of Barney and his wife Susie returned to the island of their birth to live out their retirement. In which ever country they lived, they observed a consistency in the poor quality of service provided by Government Departments. How could this be, when those who managed and worked for government held the most secure jobs available to any worker. Why were they tardy in the delivery of services? Why were they not motivated? Was it laziness? Was it lack of accountability? Was it absence of responsibleness? Was it lack of direction? Was it bad management? Living out their retirement in the fictional island of their dreams, they thought they had left all that behind them. Fate intervened and soon they discovered they too were caught in the trap of bureaucracy. Events led to they and their neighbors' forming a community group called WeToo to tackle several issues of mismanagement in their community. The group railed at the wider implications of this for society at large and the excessive increasing cost to taxpayers of mismanagement. They identified symptoms of the problem; analyzed and then came up with solutions to fix the problem. They engaged with themselves and the authorities in order to resolve issues, but to no avail. Respecting the democratic system they lived in, they established action groups in each specific area of concern with the aim of at least starting a conversation about mismanagement. Wheels spun; voices were heard but they soon learned how hard it was to "fight city hall"!

We Think We Own It! A Journey Towards Sustainability, is a thought-provoking and progressive book, with scientific, philosophical, spiritual and theological roots, where people are encouraged to use their hearts and minds to seek a new strategy to bring about healing within humanity. Healing which will hopefully lead to improvements in these challenging global environmental times. All age groups will benefit from the clear explanations of the issues that the author believes are causing global warming and the inspirational strategic plan he suggests as to how these issues may be overcome. In this important book on global warming, you will learn through the lens of science, philosophy, spirituality and theology:The science behind global warming, carbon emissions, and climate change, and how, in spite of renewable energy research and development, humanity is far from resolving the problem. How humanity must have a change of heart (metanoia), and a change in attitude, where we strive to reduce our personal carbon footprint... this may in fact have to involve a reduction in our personal standard of living, where we consume less energy. How inspiration for this change in our life style may be obtained through Christian prayer, (friendship with God), other world religions/beliefs, spirituality and the philosophy of Rousseau. That we should get back to the basics of living a wholesome community life (mentioned in the mythology of Eden, before Satan appeared), where we show kindness towards each other, where we live in harmony and love together, banishing any delusional thought that we may have regarding ownership of the planet, and finally letting go of the potential to mislead others in our quest for wealth and property. How this change in how we live our lives will hopefully return this planet to a sustainable form, as perfect as the original Garden of Eden. I would like all who read this book, to be hopeful for the future of humanity on this planet. Hopeful that very good human nature (mentioned in Genesis), will prevail in the end. Where humanity inspired by genuine love, truth, and honesty, will take the necessary actions to make the planet sustainable once again, as sustainable as the original mythological Garden of Eden. Finally, I would like all who read this book to do something positive in their lives to help make this planet sustainable in the years to come. Tommy Treacy

STONES CORNER: Turmoil, V1 is the debut novel by first-time author Jane Buckley.Caitlin McLaughlin is just like any other teenage girl: during the week, she works at the Rocola shirt factory in Stones Corner, Creggan, where she has become secretary to her boss's dishy nephew James. She likes music and trips into the city with her best friend at the weekend, but this is Derry 1972. A simple trip to the shops can lead to life-changing injuries or death, and staying at home can be just as dangerous when the British Troops raid house to house.Robert Sallis is a private with the Royal Fusiliers recently posted to the city. He's repelled by how some of his fellow soldiers behave, wary too of civilian feelings running high against the occupying army. Accidentally separated from his patrol in Creggan, he's discovered by Caitlin hiding in her family's garden. He expects the worse but having seen enough violence too close to home, she doesn't give him away. Instead, she prefers to daydream about her charming boss, who has made his feelings for her plain.A Catholic girl from the Bogside and the Protestant heir to a big local employer...Caitlin believes their love can overcome the triple obstacles of politics, class, and faith in her youthful innocence. Meanwhile, Robert, newly recruited to British undercover forces, is closing in on a terrorist strike in the heart of the city centre.
