I guess that is what More Random Thoughts of a Stupid Man is: a sharing of my life and the thoughts that enter my somewhat-demented mind on occasion. I'll admit, writing those thoughts has become more therapeutic than artful and brings me a deep feeling of comfort. I can only hope that you enjoy the read! I also hope it leaves you wondering at times, "Did he just say that?" or "Did that really happen?" I'm here to tell you, I did just say that and that did just happen! I know this to be true, because I often catch myself wondering if I said that out loud or if I really did that. I also know my wife wonders the same things about me. Please don't be too judgmental, I have already written two books in which I openly admit to being a "Stupid Man." As a matter of fact, just the other day I was watching Sports Center on ESPN; I have finally gotten pretty good at reading the ticker that streams across the bottom of the screen if I'm watching a large enough screen. I was thinking if ESPN collaborated with the Weather Channel and streamed our local weather report, I might never have to change the channel. If my wife wanted to get involved, maybe ESPN would allow her to put reminders on the ticker of things I need to do around the house or how I might use my time more constructively...or would that be just TMI? If any of my current or ex-players or students are reading this book; yes, I just said TMI, and I know it stands for "Too much information!"

My family has been a great influence on my reading & writing my entire life. Born in a small town in Northern Minnesota during the Great Depression, my 9 brothers & sisters & I grew up in a one-room house. Mom read to Dad every night by the light of a kerosene lamp. Our aunt, a teacher & librarian, made sure we received a book for all occasions, with some nonsense. In this book of poetry, I have drawn from many of my life experiences.I will always be grateful to friends & family for all their support while instilling the love of reading, writing, & storytelling in me.

It was some years ago. I awoke in the early morning in a state of restlessness or quasi restlessness. Something needed to be expressed. The first line of a poem. And then another. And soon I had a poem. And now, many years later. Hundreds of poems largely unbidden and writing despite fading vision, I look back pleased at what I have done and wanting ever to do more.

This is my 7th book. I feel blessed that Jansina and the staff at Rivershore Books have agreed to publish my latest attempt at writing. If you have read any of my other books, this one falls in line with the previous books, Random Thoughts of a Stupid Man, More Random Thoughts of a Stupid Man, Still Stupid and I Still Own a Flip Phone. I have already admitted that I Still Own a Flip Phone was not my best effort. I hope that this book, Retirement Sucks is a redeeming work. I know that some people thought the last book was a difficult read to follow and it upset some friends and family members. That was definitely not my intention and I have had to live with the repercussions. Hopefully we can all move forward. That said; Retirement Sucks is the account of my journey as I have attempted to navigate my first couple of years of retirement. I have been slowly making adjustments to this newfound phase in my life. I really don't know how to grade how I am doing, but I am trying and it is getting better by the day.I know my mother-in-law and wife are probably not happy with the title of this book, but I am hoping neither of them will disown me.Please enjoy the read, and if you like this book or any of my others, please recommend them to a friend.Remember: "God takes care of stupid people." - Larry Mischke

A lyrical yarn about an overly-curious newspaper man transplanted from England to the eastern coast of the USA, who stumbles onto the fact that a one-hundred-year-old cult of drowned sailors has complete control of his quaint, seaside town. A legend about a hand-held golden mirror (with a portable vortex inside its case); as it is randomly passed between owners in separate vignettes to change their lives beyond human comprehension. The ennui and general apathy of living in a sleepless big city that doesn't seem to care-as expressed in skeleton symbols. A humble man with great calculating abilities uses his natural mind to auto-suggest (the future of law and order) hundreds of years from now.

Five Days Without iPads is a fictional book based loosely on my time as a substitute teacher in elementary schools.I have been taken aback by the use of iPads/tablets in the classrooms. I have been very impressed by how adept the students are at using them. There are times though, that I think they are over used and students waste time searching through topics that don't enhance learning. I truly hope that students and educators can find a balance in the schools and also experience life and learning outside of the cyber world many are addicted to.Today is a great day to have a great day!

This is my first attempt at writing a book. I have always been told I tell a pretty good story, so I thought I would try to put it to print. I've been told I sometimes master making a short story long and I would like to think a long story short. Random Thoughts of a Stupid Man, is exactly that: somewhat tongue in cheek at times, but definitely random. I call it a memoir with a twist. I have attempted to allow you to wander through my life as I have, ranging from childhood, high school, college and my experiences as a husband, father and coach. Along the way there are several distinct random thoughts sprinkled among the not-so-distinct random thoughts. Points of reference include family and marital relations, parenting, sports from the viewpoint of a player and coach. Being raised in a military family is addressed along with moving all over the country to my dad's various duty stations. There are also some historical references and points of obscure trivia I have picked up in my travels. Men who read this book, I hope will come away empowered with the ability to also admit they to are "Stupid Men". There is no shame in it. The women who read this book, I'm hoping will establish confidence to continue in their quest to train and mold the "Stupid Men" in their lives. We are all trainable, even if only one "smidge" at a time. If any of you do not know what a "smidge" is, contact my wife. I also want to thank, Jansina, at Rivershore Books for giving me a second chance to publish this book. Greatly appreciated!

They Say Life Imitates Art, But Sometimes Death Imitates It Better When 9-year-old Eric Holden discovers a murdered boy at a New Jersey beach, Detective Julie Martel is as moved to bring him motherly comfort as she is driven to find the culprit. Having survived their family being torn in half by death, Julie and her son Patrick know full well how grief can tear a heart apart. More than anything, Julie wants to bring healing to Eric and promises to bring this killer down. Then Eric and his family are discovered murdered the very next day. Reeling from failing Eric, Julie uncovers the killer's depraved pattern: whoever finds his murders will be his next victims, along with their entire family. His victims' dead bodies are the sculptures in his brutal artistic fantasies, amplifying his torture. A crusade for justice morphs into a struggle to keep her loved ones alive, as each kill cuts closer to her own shattered family, testing her faith with the most heartless of evils. When the endgame sets in, both Julie and Patrick's lives are in his clutches and the only way out may be through the embrace of death.

Our lives are short, but they are sweet. ...and filled with chocolate. This is a story of the short life of a cookie. The narrator watches as siblings reach "the moment we all must face". Will it end in the mouth of the Baker? In the furnace? In water? Perhaps none of those are as bad as they sound. Illustrations by Mary MacArthur enhance this short story.
