Confessions of a Female Pastor and Other Prayers of the People is a collection of essays and prayers by retired minister Dr. Janice Six of Abilene, Texas. She was the longtime associate pastor of First Central Presbyterian Church.
Every book tells at least two stories -- the story between the covers and the story outside the covers. A Texas author tells the stories behind the thirty books he has written and some he has helped get published. The author also writes a weekly newspaper column on Texas books, owns a book store with a small publishing division, and chaired or co-chaired the West Texas Book Festival for seventeen years.
Dr. Mathur, born in India and trained in London, relates his experiences as a doctor in rural West Texas and the medical and cultural challenges he faced. The book is autobiographical with names, locations and details changed, making this a work of creative nonfiction. The stories cover his second year as a young doctor more than twenty years ago, continuing the saga from his first book, Cowboys and Indian: A Doctor''s First Year in Texas.
