On a small island they hid... ...from an Ice Lord bent on destruction. What can an inventor, bard, and nearly blind trader do to stop him? When he lost his arm, Lodin thought his life was over. How could he create his brilliant gadgets with only one hand? His companion, a handsome bard named Maran, means the world to him, but with the Ice Lord's destruction of everything, is there even hope? Asri has faith. She's wise in many ways. Asri knows that if she can just convince him to build an artificial hand, then Lodin will be able to invent again. She may have lost her sight but not her vision. There must be a solution. Deep in the archives, she found a scroll. If it is to be believed, they can find answers in the ships' graveyard. Asri knows there's a chance. With Lodin and Maran by her side, they need to get to ancient ruins to have any chance to stop the Ice Lord and save the world. It won't be easy, and they need to find some missing elements to set the trap. Will it even work? You'll love this journey of discovery, because the battle of good vs. Evil is always compelling, and this one is better than most. Get it now.
For the teacher Mrs Troyd, the pressure is on.Christmas is coming to the little parish of Oddleton, and for Mrs Troyd Christmas means the children's Nativity play, awaited with great anticipation (or in some cases, trepidation) by the whole congregation. This year, however, all is not going quite as planned. Joseph is too shy to speak out loud enough to be heard. The little angels are squabbling over which way up to hold the Baby Jesus, and to top it all, Mrs Troyd's nemesis, Arianna le Grand, has taken her children (the Angel Gabriel and the Third King) on an unexpected skiing holiday.Who will stand in for the Angel Gabriel? Was it an unwise move for the Shepherd to have eaten three packets of Sour Squigglers and a Whistling Dayglo-pop before the play? And did donkeys wear sombreros in Ancient Palestine?Whatever happens, this will be a Nativity the parishioners will remember for a very long time....
Mixed Reception is the final novel in the Kate King Trilogy. "Kate is a wonderful character, believable and likeable and with a nice line in funny put-downs." Daily Mail Kate King should be an extremely contented woman. Her new man is good with his hands, she has a change of career at the prestigious Hi! Hotels leisure chain and she still fits a size twelve, albeit in elasticised sweatpants. But all is not well. A long-term sufferer of agro-phobia (fear of parenthood), Kate struggles to forge a relationship with her new partner's child. Her attempts to bond with the little boy only serve to traumatise him, while her prospective in-laws do their best to thwart any progress Kate makes. The team at Farzyk Hall provide little comfort, with Reception a hotbed of malicious gossip and extra-marital affairs, while the penny-pinching hotel directives drive guests to distraction. To make matters worse, a shapely love rival is lurking, perky bits primed and ready to fire the minute Kate trips up. As her troubles multiply, Kate begins to wonder if any relationship is really worth the constant torment.
I am Morten Astley Fogarty - insurance complaint handler, part-time barista and all-round entertainer. My career at the Perypils call centre has really taken off since my colleagues all voted for me to leave the team and transfer to complaints; I was chuffed to bits at being chosen! I love helping our customers resolve their concerns and as I've only received three death threats so far, I'm clearly doing something right. On Sundays, I work with an extremely talented Chef, Joe, who trained under the calming influence of Gordon Ramsay. Joe's party-trick is to hurl his bread knife through the kitchen hatch towards my head. He always deliberately misses, of course; we do have such fun! My girlfriend, Myra, is a wonderful actress and our director has tried her in lots of different positions. I know Myra is desperate to secure a leading part in our Christmas production, The Wizard of Oz and she has been scouring eBay for ruby slippers, size 9. Let's hope she can continue to satisfy the director!
