I spent six months in China, May to late October. Most of that time was I was in Xi'an. Fortunately I was able to travel extensively, primarily by rail and visited Beijing, Tianjn, Dalian, Hefei, Anhui, Suzhou, Wuhan, the Yangtze Three Gorges, Chongqing, Guiyang, Guizhou, Huangguoshu water falls, and varous other places. I crossed the Boahai Sea on an overnight ship. Along the way I met interesting and friendly people. Everyone in China was very nice and helpful. These are my memories of the time.
We travel through life stepping from stone to stone. Always we hope that we will not slip into the water, the mud, or worse. There are people ahead and behind us, as we walk through our life. Some help, some hinder. Each decision we make is a step toward a new stone. Here in these pages are some of the stones I stepped on during my life while in the Army - 1960-1962. I do not attempt to discuss the major events of that era. Rather, I try to show what life in the Army was like for the average enlisted man.
