Islamic institutions have had a very long history, whose performance was muted during the Colonial Period. However, after the Second World War, the revival of the Islamic institutions began. Throughout its history, it had been assumed that these institutions are working for the betterment of humanity. Their target is to achieve a high level of the welfare for the concerned community. Historically these institutions were waqf, zakat and sadaqat. However from the last three decades, Islamic financial institutions have been established with the objective of providing interest- free products, transaction and services for Muslims. However there has been lot of criticism on the performance and role of these institutions. This becomes especially pertinent in a Muslim country like Indonesia, where there is a dire need to know that how these institutions are working and if it is possible for them to achieve the objectives of the Shari'ah. Some scholars have claimed that these institutions are performative and only serving 'lip service', and there are no significant differences between the Islamic and secular institutions where both kinds of institutions operate on the same foundations and differ only in use of technical terminologies. This volume aims to analyze some of the Islamic institutions which are operating in the world's biggest Muslim country, Indonesia, as a case study and analyze the contemporary Islamic Banking products and practices in the light of 'Maqasad al-Shari'ah'. The book's objective is to propose an improved system of Islamic institutions for Muslims to refer to. This volume will also analyze why these institutions are currently not able to comply with the Maqasad al Shari'ah and how it is possible to enhance the level of economic development, social wellbeing, individual freedom and equality, elimination of injustice and poverty, and achieve the other targets of the Maqasad through these institutions.
The monograph targets a huge variety of characterizations of cofinally complete metric spaces. These spaces are studied in terms of several properties of some classes of functions between metric spaces that are stronger than the continuous functions such as Cauchy-regular, uniformly continuous, strongly uniformly continuous, and various Lipschitz-type functions. There is one chapter that is dedicated to studying cofinally complete metric spaces in terms of hyperspace and function space topologies. Along with that, various characterizations are studied in terms of geometric functionals, sequences, Cantor-type conditions, etc. The study of such spaces is interesting as well as it has nice connections with various other branches of mathematics such as convex analysis, optimization theory, fixed point theory, functional analysis and approximation theory. But until now, there has been no textbook or research monograph which presents the entire theory of these spaces in a comprehensive way. The study of the aforesaid spaces and their variants is still a vibrant area of research, and many prominent researchers are working in this area.The book is targeted at researchers as well as graduate students interested in real functions, analysis on metric spaces, topology, and the aforementioned. In the early 1980s, the late luminary Tito Arecchi was the first to highlight the existence of chaos in a laser model. Since then, along with several colleagues, he developed many important lines of research in this field, such as generalized multistability, laser with injected signal, laser with delayed feedback and the worldwide accepted classification of lasers of A, B and C, depending on their typical relaxation rates. Later, chaos control and synchronization were investigated in lasers and other systems, providing innovative schemes. Very recently, in his last contribution to laser physics, the model of the laser with feedback demonstrating its universal features was revisited.This book aims to present the research activity of Prof. Arecchi and his colleagues in the domain of nonlinear dynamics of lasers, since his seminal works of 1982 till the latest. Most researchers would relate X-ray structure analysis to crystal structure analysis. A crystal is a state in which atoms or molecules are regularly arranged in three-dimensional space. However, some substances do not have 3D structures, but have 1D, 2D, 1D¿1D, 2D¿1D or 1D¿1D¿1D structures. Here the symbol ¿ stands for direct sum in linear algebra and is different from ordinary sum +. For example, 2D¿1D means the direct sum of a 2D subspace and an orthogonal 1D subspace, not 3D.In a previous book, Physics and Chemistry of Molecular Assemblies, published in April 2020, the author showed for the first time that molecular assemblies can be represented in a unified manner from such subspaces of linear algebra, and wrote the theory and method of X-ray structure analysis of the liquid crystal phase structures with the dimensional structure of 1D, 2D, 1D¿1D, 2D¿1D, and 1D¿1D¿1D. Furthermore, the X-ray liquid crystal structure analysis methods of 11 representative examples were concretely described. In addition, 110 X-ray data were posted as the end-of-chapter problems in Chapter 3.Using the methods developed by the author, these 110 problems can be solved in principle with a calculator, graph paper, a ruler, and a compass, although it takes time. However, when you use only a calculator, a graph paper, a ruler or a compass, it would probably take more than one year to analyze all the observed X-ray data in Chapter 3. Therefore, the author's research group has developed a computer program named "Bunseki-kun." By using this program, we can easily analyze the liquid crystal phase structures from the observed d spacings. Thus, when you will use this program, you will be able to analyze the liquid crystal phase structures within 1/100th to 1/1000th of the time.
