"Fire Under the Ashes" is a thought-provoking exploration of themes such as peace, harmony, education, and social progress while underscoring the vital roles of democracy, freedom, and law in developing a prosperous nation. The book delves into the significance of leadership and the imperative of eradicating prejudices and superstitions to propel societal advancement. The transformative potency of education and diligence takes center stage, offering insights into how these elements can surmount challenges and setbacks. Love emerges as the guiding principle for establishing order and harmony, while movement is the foundational underpinning for societal progress. At its core, the book delves into the Iranian Islamic Revolution and its underlying catalysts. It examines the motivations behind the Iranian populace's participation in a movement they initially did not comprehend and their trust in Islamic clerics. Notably, it probes the generational divide within the Islamic Republic, particularly the educated youth's disillusionment with and hatred toward the clergy. The clerics' opposition to the monarchy is traced back. The narrative navigates through the Shah's ambitions, significant oil revenues, and sweeping modernization efforts, including women's liberation and socioeconomic reforms. While modernizing Iran, these changes ignited tension stoked by the clerics, ultimately culminating in overthrowing the Shah's regime and establishing the Islamic Republic under the leadership of Ayatollah Khomeini. The narrative extends to recent times, chronicling protests and opposition movements, and subsequent anti-government demonstrations. These movements, marked by resilience and repression, exemplify the Iranian people's yearning for change and willingness to confront oppressive regimes. In a poignant parallel, the book compares Europe's Dark Ages, attributing their protracted duration to restricted access to information and societal constraints. This analogy underscores the challenges faced by Iranians due to ignorance and misinformation perpetuated by authoritarian rulers and religious authorities. The narrative highlights the Iranian people's unwavering pursuit of a better life, freedom, and adherence to the rule of law. It envisions a future marked by a secular and democratic society driven by knowledge, space, and progress. The title "Fire Under the Ashes" encapsulates the optimism for positive transformation, with education, love, and the dissemination of information serving as catalysts for enduring change.
The word of God tells us in Romans 12:19, (KJV) "Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath, for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, says the Lord" (YouVersion) And in Deuteronomy 32:35 (KJV) To me, belongeth vengeance, and recompense; their foot shall slide in due time: for the day of their calamity is at hand, and the things, that shall come upon them make haste." (YouVersion) These scriptures clearly show us that we are not to avenge anyone, that vengeance of any kind belongs to God, and He will recompense or repay us for the evil done, we are not to take the law into our own hands. But what goes through your mind when someone is hurting you? You want to hurt them back, as hard as you could. I knew that, and it was taught to me growing up, still, that did not stop me from wanting to hurt the man that hurt me, I wanted to take revenge on that person who had so cruelly mistreated me and my daughter, and the only thing I wanted was for him to hurt as bad as he had hurt us and gloat about it. It left painful scars on me both physically and mentally it took years and much therapy not to feel the hurt and pain suffered for me to learn to forgive that person. When I came to Tulsa, I was distraught, hurt, and unsure of what I was doing nor even how I was supposed to do what it is that I was brought here to do. Getting one foot in front of the other from moment to moment and day to day was a monumental task for me. For a long time, I was not sure how to go about to starting again. Picking myself up again and moving on.
Spanning years and miles, glass appreciates the fragility of growing up- and how painful and beautiful it is to shatter. The collection of poems plays with prose to explore girlhood, loss, first love, illness, heartbreak, and the struggles of self-acceptance.
The phrase, "wellsprings of grace," aptly describes the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola, the focus of this study as it applies to the Sisters of St. Joseph. According to Thomas Corbishley, S.J., few books, apart from the Bible, have influenced Christians more than these Exercises, transforming an exercitant into a steadfast companion and disciple of the Lord. Their success lies in the simple fact that 'they do what they set out to do.' The individual becomes a power of one. Those who generously cooperate with their graces are charged with a mandate to become ambassadors for Christ (Rom. 1:17). They build up a culture of love one person at a time in the sacrament of the present moment. This fact cannot be overstated. Mary Gordon, the well-known writer and occasional critic of the Catholic Church, notes that "even if Jesuits had disappeared, Ignatius' Spiritual Exercises, which he wrote to help the members focus their inner lives, would be a monument in discernment and insight." As a reference book, Wellsprings of Grace systematically traces the influence of the Ignatian Exercises on the Sisters of St. Joseph in their identity and mission. No research prior to Wellsprings of Grace has identified and studied the sources from which the foundational texts of the Sisters of St. Joseph have emerged. These Ignatian Exercises have become the distinguishing mark of the Jesuits themselves: "When all is said and done," writes Simon Ditchfield, "it is the Spiritual Exercises that encapsulate the distinctiveness of the Jesuits. It is not the only reason but the main reason." Those who do these Exercises are likewise distinguished as new creations in Christ" (2 Cor. 5:17).

Why should it matter that he hasn't set foot on a boat in over twenty years, he prefers the countryside to the big city, or that he's quite reclusive and distant toward his family? When his curious seven-year old daughter, Brooke, urges him to explain the contents of a mysterious box she finds, Bill comes face-to-face with his past, and suddenly, everything matters. "Our Children Are Here," is a rich teachable moment to tell our children, "We see you. We hear you. We are listening to you! Most of all... we will protect you as you navigate this journey called life." It's my hope that the pages of this poem will encourage the telling of family experiences, explanations, and responses to our children's questions. Our children, our young she-roes and heroes, are society's passport to the future! We must move forward with words and actions that will empower, communicate our collective high expectations, and strengthen our children's voices about personal values, familial relationships, and social issues. It is my belief that our love and our advocacy will nurture and empower generations of children borne and yet to be borne.

Orange County, Florida, has experienced a significant rise in the higher levels of 'Crimes Against Persons, ' specifically, 'Murders.' This placed more investigative responsibility on the Orange County Sheriff's Office [OCSO] Homicide Unit, specifically, Sgt. Jake Jacoby and Detective Ed Rollins, one of five Homicide Teams at the OCSO. Early, on a Wednesday morning, the Homicide Unit was notified, by their communications Center, that an unconscious male was found lying in an orange grove. An ambulance was dispatched to the scene, as well as the zone deputy. The deputy was dispatched to do an initial investigation. The ambulance arrived at the scene and declared the adult male, to be deceased. Further search of the area, located two additional victims; a male and a female. The female was deceased and the male was transported to the hospital, where he later died. Sgt. Jacoby and Det. Rollins were assigned to the case. Arriving at the scene; they joined the patrol deputy, who was the first to arrive; and conducted a search of the area. Large tire tracks were discovered, which were made by a large vehicle. Plaster casts were made of the tire tracks and later verified to have been on a large Dodge Truck, which later became significant. Identity of the three victims revealed; one male was a civilian, and the other two were Navy Personnel who were attending the Submarine School at the Naval Training Center [NTC], in Orlando. Consequently, the case became a joint responsibility of the OCSO and the NTC. Naval Students were frequenting the 'High Hopes Bar' on their weekend liberty. One afternoon, following an argument, a fight ensued between the civilian male victim and a member of a small group. This was a result of the civilian victim not paying the other male money he owed. A few days later, the victim's vehicle was found abandoned near an intersection in the county. It was verified that the vehicle had been abandoned three days after the murders had been committed. Shortly; a male [from the group] was interviewed, away from the Bar, by Sgt. Jacoby. During the interview, they had coffee. Sgt. Jacoby retained the male's cup for processing. Processing results from the cup; verified, by his DNA and Fingerprints, that he was the person who had abandoned the vehicle. The Dodge Truck which had been at the orange grove was located and taken in as evidence. The male suspect's DNA matched DNA from small blood splatters found in the Dodge Truck. Processing of the victim's abandoned vehicle, revealed powder on the tire, in the trunk. Removal of the tire disclosed heavier amounts of powder. Processing identified the powder as cocaine. Several, rather important, issues were developed to include: Identity of persons involved in area drugs, identity of the murder suspects, determination of victim's cause of death, persons involvement with the Dodge Truck, and surprisingly, who owned it.

Contained inside the covers of this book are the answers that I have found to life's greatest mysteries, and hopefully between the rhythms and rhymes you can come to the same understanding that I have. In this world we are not alone and that in this world, though we may feel like it is not possible that anyone has ever hurt like we have or are hurting like we are, that throughout all time, someone or somewhere has felt how we are feeling and that is a statement of life. Though every word may not always rhyme with its predecessor, you will find that the thoughts that each poem conveys will aid in your understanding of my mind and the pain I have endured and the pleasures I have encountered. The sun will always rise whether you like it or not. I hope this totem of thought will help you contemplate and conceptualize the rest of your life as it has helped me in writing it. Through years of hard work, through my trials and tribulations, I happily present to you "The Ballad of the Boy named B."
