Bag om Gaelcerth of Halloween

"One of the ceremonies that has survived since the time of the Druids, and kept in Wales, on the 11th of November, states John Hugh Roberts, was the 'Bonfire of Halloween' and from 1834 - 1840 he participated in the ceremony. He said this ceremony was kept up even to the year he wrote these papers which was in 1888. All the children gathered materials for the Bonfire which was lit at sunset and each fire in every house was lite again with the fire from the Galcerth. But in 1888 only the old families did this'. John Hugh actually got to light the bonfire as he had gathered the greatest amount of materials. He even was given the trumpet, to sound, by the older man who was the Master of Ceremony. John Hugh says there was a great commotion and the Queen of the Fairies approached. The "Gaelcerth of Halloween" was written at the turn of the twentieth century by John Hugh Roberts.
