Leaving his long-time girlfriend standing on the steps of the funeral home where he said goodbye to his father, Jeremy packed his bags and left town to find himself on a cross-country road trip. But after a month on the road, he doesn't have much to show for his new lease on life except the regret of abandoning everyone he loves.
When an unbelievable phone call comes from his sister back home informing him of everything he's missed, he decides to throw in the towel and go home. But not before he spends a few nights in something other than a roadside motel.

Then a chance encounter puts Margo Davidson in Jeremy's line of vision and he can't bring himself to leave her alone. Margo's not shy about telling Jeremy what she wants in life, but he's in no position to give it to her. Except, the more time he spends with her, the more he realizes just how much he's lying to himself about what he really wants.
