Bag om Inside Story of XI Jinping's Strategy on Military Committee
Why Zhou Yongkang was not transferred to jurisdiction till December 6th, 2014? Such a long time gap from March 19th, 2012, when he was under investigation for plotting coup in Beijing, can only be explained by one fact---the military committee of CCP was not controlled by the current Chinese President Xi jinping. For so many years, previous Chinese President Hu Jingtao only had the power of appointing major generals in the army. The generals fostered by Jiang Zemin, such as Xu Caihou, Guo Boxiong and Liang Guanglie, all committed shocking crimes of corruption. Hu Jiangtao could not control the military power until 2012 when the incident of Bo Xilai happened. He once decided to keep the chair position of the Chinese military committee. However, on November 11th, 2012, he suddenly declared complete retirement, causing the turmoil in the military committee of China. Facing the tremendous obstacles, Xi Jinping was not able to settle down a small corruption case like Gu Junshan in the first two years on stage. However, the supposedly much more troublesome Xu Caihou was arrest only three months after Gu was put into jail. More than 200 Chinese generals were under investigation afterwards, and two committed suicide in one week. Together with the sweeping anti-corruption action in the army, Xi's military committee merged to the surface.
