Growing up on reading books on sea adventures, Jim constantly daydreams about becoming a seafaring hero, yet he has never faced any real danger. While he is serving aboard a vessel called the Patna, carrying Muslim pilgrims to Mecca, when the ship suffers damage and in danger to sink.
