The Words and Gestures Form, part of the third edition of the MacArthur-Bates Communicative Development Inventories (CDIs), is a comprehensive instrument designed for use with ages 8 to 18 months. To complete the inventory, parents document the child's understanding and production of hundreds of early vocabulary items. Then, parents record communicative and symbolic gestures the child has tried or completed.
