Wilcox attempted no fine descriptions, no rare word-painting, no flights of eloquence. These things did not lie within her province. As simply and as briefly as possible, she endeavored to relate such events as occur almost daily in our midst. In the selection of a title, she could not find a suitable English term which would express the meaning she wished to convey in unison with the leading idea of the book, therefore she was obliged, without reluctance, to use a French term. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
