Murder is not on the programme for a concert of East European music at the country house estate of its glamorous American escort agency owner. When the wife of an Oxford college principal disappears and is found dead the next day police investigate connections between the victim's art gallery, a studio in Amsterdam where College paintings are sent for cleaning and originals are auctioned off.
