Bag om New Robots for the 2020's
The 2020's will go down in history for the rise of the robotic workforce. Service robots will be a key helper in many homes. For example, Samsung is developing Ballie, a household/companion robot that is the size of a tennis ball that's loaded with artificial intelligence. It's designed to understand, support and react to the owner's needs. Incredibly, it can connect and control smart devices in the home to the owner's specifications. As for pets, there will be plenty of little robots like Adorable Kiki and Aibo to choose from. Some of them will sit and stay on command. These are some of the many, fascinating household robots that are showcased in my book "New Robots for the 2020's.Health Care RobotsOne of the biggest megatrends in robotics is the use of health care robots which is greatly accelerating because of the COVID-19 pandemic. An example, included in the book, comes from Wuhan, China where a smart field hospital is totally run by health care robots, controlled by medical staff in a safe and remote location. In Singapore, robots are taking temperatures, dispensing hand sanitizers and encouraging social distancing. UV Light Robots are in high demand to deep-cleanse public places of the highly contagious COVID-19 virus. Venues include the hospitality industry, public transportation and much more. With COVID-19 likely to be a global health concern for some time, the demand for health care robots is expected to dramatically rise during this decade.Autonomous Mobile RobotsThe market for autonomous mobile robots is expected to hit $221 billion by 2030, growing from $29 billion in 2019. We showcase the latest including Misty 11 Robot Concierge, Spot Robodog Internet Sensation, Robots that deliver door to door, China's restaurant robots and Italy's very strong robot that can haul a plane. We also delve into the booming global drone business which is expected to be a $120 billion market by 2030.5G Connected RobotsThis decade robotic technology is being revolutionized with the inclusion of 5G systems that make robots more responsive, connected, fast and highly advanced. The 5G connectivity for robots is empowering and will provide any robot, from a $200 personal robot to a $2 million industrial robot with the key capabilities they need: sensing, thinking, acting and communicating. This book is an exciting look at the future of robotics in our personal/ business lives and in global industries during this decade.
