Bag om No-Fail Poetry Writing
No-Fail Poetry Writing I call this no-fail poetry writing, as I developed this sense that the workshops I do lead are filled with people who want to write poetry, who want to share their emotions and experiences, but are also hesitant because they do not know if they can write a poem. My response is, "Go ahead and write whatever you want. Write what you feel is a poem." This is the success: that everyone has an idea of what a poem is. This is what I love, to see people writing a poem for the first time or the first since elementary school. This was going to be a large book project, one that I could "shop around" for a publisher with. Now, in 2016, after seeing the success of self-publishing and the inexpensive ways to do it, I am transforming my classes where I teach at Washburn University as mostly-open-source classes. I am also writing my own textbook for each course with the goal of selling each online for less than ten dollars-and cheaper if I provide the book. I am pulling from a lot of the prompt writing I've done for classes, for workshops, for personal fun, and for poetic means itself. A lot of this stretches out over ten years. If anything, I hope this chapbook helps you out, whether you are a poet, a student, a social worker, or anyone who wants to write poetry.
