Sadaqathullah Appa, often referred to as Sheikh Sadaqathullah Appa, was a revered Islamic scholar and reformer. His contributions to religion, literature, and the Arabic language were substantial, particularly in Tamil Nadu, India. He was known for his teachings, writings, and efforts in promoting Islamic studies and the Arabic language in the region. His influence and dedication earned him respect and recognition within the Islamic scholarly community.Shaik Sadaqathullah visited Delhi and had literary discussions with some of the Arabs, which were very much appreciated by those who were present in that assembly. The emperor Aurangzeb, on hearing his erudite scholarship in theology, offered him in 1109 A.H. the post of ¿¿¿¿ ¿¿¿¿¿¿ which he declined and when the emperor pressed for its acceptance again, he requested him to appoint his son Shaik Muhammad Labbai Alim as the chief justice of South India.Shaikh Sadaqathullah went on pilgrimage to Mecca and stayed in the holy places for two years. The Arabic knowing people were very much impressed of his erudite scholarship in theology, jurisprudence and mysticism and of his command over the Arabic language.
