Bag om Richards Family
This ancestral anthology is a collection of accounts of remarkable individuals, be they gentry or plain folk. In this volume, a particular Richards family--for the first time in print--is traced to the immigrant. Previously unknown, the circumstances surrounding the immigrant's tragic voyage to the Colonies is now told for the first time. More than a tabulation of names and dates, this book traces their early movements in detail while telling stories of their trials and tribulations. The emphasis is on the first three or four generations descending from the immigrant, at which point one can pick up the thread to include their own lines. Descendants are mainly found in Pennsylvania, Maryland, West Virginia, Ohio, and points west. Numerous maps and various illustrations are included, as well as copies of early court documents and other newly discovered material. During the half-century of personal research, the author has made every effort to maintain a high level of scholarship, and conclusions are based on careful assembly, interpretation and evidence analysis. A full name index and copious endnotes complete the volume. Other surnames treated include: Barham, Barnhill, Boop, Bowman, Buck, Clark, Duell, Finnicum, Fryer, Gill, Harman, Johnson, King, Knox, McDougle, Morehead, Newell, Rhodes, Simmons, Smith, Starkey, and Van Horn.
