Bag om Rock, Paper, Scissors
Fifteen-year old Scarlet Sunder has a life most teens would kill for- a rock star dad, a world of luxury and travel, and every designer shoe she could possibly desire. Two things she doesn't have are a mom and a direction in life. When an old flame from her dad's past reenters their vagabond life, Scarlet's Malibu summer, the one she hoped would lead her into the grown-up world, brings so much more than she ever could have imagined. Looking back to that very summer, Scarlet edits her memoir, candidly recalling her younger self: "If I could squander a do-over in my altogether short life, I'd choose a certain Paris afternoon on the last day of my fourteenth year. And although it sounds like the perfect backdrop for the start of a teen romance novel- windswept rain, Ferris wheel, more than one rock star-it wasn't. What I'd change would be me- me, at the start of a ten-month ride I took on a roller coaster made of raging hormones, teenage angst and chronic loneliness. This killer blend, a far cry from anything served at Starbucks, coursed through my veins and straight to my brain at a pace that never let up, not even on a perfect winter day in Paris, or a perfect summer day in Malibu. I had planted a flag deep in the soil of the new land of 'Miserable' and I was taking no prisoners.
