These stories are part of a collection of stories that were published during the late 19th century in a newspaper of New York City, The Sun. Edward Page Mitchell was a type of supernatural, was a kind of a detective/reporter and had done several publications of alleged hauntings, paranormal activities. His first publication at The Sun was his ghost story "Back From That Bourne". This fictional story alleged to be the true account of a Maine's resident returning as a ghost. Another Mitchell's stories, "An Uncommon Sort of Spectre", is of a ghost from the future. Today's some of Mitchell's works are considered of fantasy instead of science fiction, but the others are unquestionably of the science fiction genre. The stories of Mitchell for The Sun were published anonymously.
