Shadowland is the debut of GJ Wielinga (1971), released in Dutch in 2008. The autobiographical novella is written in a mixture of letters, musings, poetry, and short stories.
The reviews at the time were mixed. From 'just like a bitch' and 'maniacal' to 'definitely bold and daring in terms of style and structure.' Wielinga, in any case, still stands behind this work. 'This is who I was and what I could do. The first time I let my voice be heard.'
