Suicide -- The Biblical View - Marti Scott - Bog

Suicide -- The Biblical Viewaf Marti Scott
Bag om Suicide -- The Biblical View

We live in a complex, challenging, confusing, and sometimes chaotic world. It is no wonder we all experience disappointment, discouragement, defeat, depression, or despair at times. How is a Christian supposed to handle these negative emotions? Is suicide ever justified? What does God say about the matter? The author, whose brother took his own life, delves into Scripture for conclusions that can be drawn about suicide. She also examines how several biblical characters, some of whom wanted to die, dealt with the same negative emotions that we experience today. We can learn some lessons from those who are good examples as well as those who are bad examples. In addition, she offers practical help for desperate people who have concluded that suicide is not the answer to their struggles. She is convinced that the Bible has answers for life's troubles, and she frequently encourages readers to think and act biblically. Marti Scott grew up in a Christian home with four siblings. Her brother's suicide prompted her to analyze this act in light of Scripture, thus forming the beginning of her book. Years later she wrote lessons on how to biblically handle negative emotions and has taught these lessons in women's Sunday school classes, at a women's prison, and in individual Bible studies. She believes in the supremacy and sufficiency of Scripture for life's troubles. She received a BS with a group major in English Language and Literature and a minor in Speech and Drama. In addition to various office jobs, she taught English at a Christian school and substitute taught for several years. Marti has years of experience singing in churches and directing adult and children's choirs. She also enjoys decorating her home, sewing, and crafting. Marti and her husband Jeff have been married for fifty-two years and have two children and seven grandchildren. They live in Michigan where they are active church members.
