Bag om The Complete Tarot Poems
This is not a sequence of poems. Each one of the seventy-eight poems in this collection (corresponding to the seventy eight cards in the Tarot Pack) is quite different from all the others, as unique and original as the card to which it refers. For example:
III of Swords
The rain falls ...
The heart is pierced
not once
but again

and bloom
and blow in the wind

Only a pierced heart
can know
what it is to love.
VII of Wands
Fending off
sticks and stones
and spears
is child's-play.
Brushing off

the sneers of work-place rivals,
your own self-doubt and fears
is not.
Yet children do it
