When his beloved fiancée disappears on the day that they are supposed to announce their engagement, His Grace, Lord Hugh Byron is in deep despair. He loves the lowly maiden and is prepared to live a life of loneliness for he cannot bear to marry any other woman. His heart belongs to Jane Watson and he has no interest in any other.
