Bag om The Embodiment of Abolition
The Embodiment of Abolition follows two death penalty abolitionists, Rev. Dr. Jeff Hood, a death row spiritual advisor, and Alli Sullivan, a college student turned abolitionist, through the wide range of experiences and emotions that come with death penalty work. Much of the book was written in the immediate wake of Arthur Brown Jr.'s execution in Texas, a friend of Alli and Jeff's, and culminates with the execution of Anthony Sanchez in Oklahoma. Death penalty work is incredibly isolating. It is our hope that this book brings comfort to other abolitionists who know all too well the experiences we've described in this book, and shows that they are not alone. It is also our further hope that this book brings a new level of understanding about the folks who are condemned to die- a reminder that they, too, are human.
