Tyber can't wait to track down those responsible for harming the dragons of Cadwaller. Fortunately, King Aymon wasted no time in attaching a dragon healer to Tyber's horde and sending them off to learn more about the dragon illness and The Shepherd's claims that the dragons are tied to a plot to overthrow the King and Wing Master Trysten.
As Tyber and his hordesmates return to the eastern edge of the kingdom, they find that clues and answers are few and far between. Just as they start to make progress, Tyber's cover is blown. The brilliant blue of his dragon Rius is recognized and tied to The Shepherd's disappearance.
With their true identities known, and dragonjack hordes combing the countryside for them, Tyber and his hordesmates flee for the safety of the nearest King's weyr. Along the way, they discover a clue that takes them to the source of the illness and the person responsible for it. But getting word back to King Aymon requires that Tyber, Ren, and Ander retrieve their stolen dragons from the monster behind the illness before it is too late.
