A body has been slashed to death in a motel room locked from the inside. The windows are painted shut, so how did the murderer get out? The victim is an artist visiting from Finland to promote a series of paintings he's made of war and bloodshed in Africa, and an unfinished canvas in the locked room is of a beautiful African woman, who is also nowhere to be found.
