The Life Of John Clare - Frederick Martin - Bog

Bag om The Life Of John Clare

The Life of John Clare is a biography written by Frederick Martin that explores the life and work of the English poet John Clare. Clare was a self-taught poet from the rural village of Helpston, who rose to fame in the early 19th century for his unique and evocative poetry that captured the beauty and hardship of rural life. The book delves into Clare's early life, his struggles with poverty and mental illness, and his eventual success as a poet. It also explores his relationships with his family, friends, and literary contemporaries, including Lord Byron and William Wordsworth. Martin provides a detailed analysis of Clare's poetry, examining the themes and techniques that made his work so distinctive. He also explores Clare's impact on the Romantic literary movement and his enduring legacy in English literature. Overall, The Life of John Clare is an insightful and engaging biography that provides a comprehensive look at the life and work of one of England's most beloved poets.Nevertheless, the old spirit of faith urging him again and again, he had more than once renewed his communications with Mr. Henson, and repeated visits to Market Deeping at last produced a sort of treaty between bookseller and poet. Mr. Henson agreed to print, for the sum of one pound, three hundred prospectuses, inviting subscribers for a small collection of 'Original Trifles by John Clare.' The price of the volume was to be three shillings and sixpence, 'in boards;' and Mr. Henson promised that, as soon as one hundred subscribers had given in their names, he would begin to print the book, at his own risk. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
