"Existence is no way to treat an animal." There is something to be said about the quiet desperation that many of us seem to live in. The hum-drum tragedy of the individual: getting out of bed and stubbing a toe, being stuck in traffic, losing a loved one. Death. This collection of short stories looks to examine the lives of the unseen many: the relationships we form and break; our beliefs and systems of values. None of these things are pleasant. But they are universal. This collection seeks to sit down with these less-than-savory parts of the human condition for a while. Have a glass of milk and some tea. And finally, ask if the desperation is necessary. Because if not, then maybe we can find some beauty hidden away somewhere.
