Bag om The Lost Continent
Armchair fiction presents extra-large paperback editions of the best in classic science fiction novels. "The Lost Continent" by C. J. Cutliffe Hyne is the 13th entry in our "Lost World-Lost Race" series. This is a rollicking, non-stop tale about a legend that will never die. It's the story of Atlantis-a doomed continent that, according to myth, sunk into the depths of the Atlantic Ocean, taking with her a lost race that had grown and flourished for centuries. The story here is told by Deucalion, a warrior-priest who describes his heroic (but ultimately doomed) efforts to save Atlantis from destruction by its greedy, foolhardy empress, Phorenice. There is a high level of swashbuckling action throughout this stirring opus, guaranteeing a thumbs-up from all fans of lost world-lost race classics. "The Lost Continent" was written by British author, C.J. Cutcliffe Hyne (aka Weatherby Chesney). It was intitially published in serialized form by Pearson's Magazine in 1899. Harper and Brothers issued it in hardcover the following year.
