Mercy's blue eyes flamed in anger and disappointment as she stared at the retreating figure of the horse. Mr. Miller was the fifth person she was trying to sell the McFarland ranch to, unsuccessfully. Sweat trickled down the sides of her face; she wasn't just disturbed about the inability to sell off the ranch, she was worried about the future of her siblings.
