The Stolen Child - Jennifer Cook - Bog

Bag om The Stolen Child

Hazel, separated from her blue-blooded mother at birth by the vengeful act of her deranged father, grew into her young adulthood as a farm milk maid. When she comes of age, she finds herself the prey of the vicious crew on her father's ship as well as dock workers and street people. Hazel must flee from the clutches of her sadistic father before he is able to carry out his vile plan for revenge. Finally she finds herself free from the captivity imposed by her brutal parent who refuses to relinquish his pursuit. Charlie, a poor street boy from Hazel's hometown, follows her as she flees. Though he believes he is in love with Hazel, he becomes entangled in a scandalous situation with her sister. Although each sister is unaware of the other, their paths converge as each is trying to escape from their pursuers. Aided by an unsuspected treacherous ally, the sisters find themselves only deeper in trouble and there seems to be no way out except to surrender; and the cost of that is far too great.
