August is "Fair Time" in Washington, Missouri. Summer is at its peak, and 5 days of fun are scheduled! Friends, neighbors and visitors gather at the Fairgrounds for this annual celebration. Washington's Town & Country Fair is one of Missouri's oldest and largest, dating back to 1928. By the way, a group of former Queens make an appearance in this book, beginning with 1961's lovely Alice. And there is Miss Velma, with the prize-winning pie.
