Bag om Treasury
$$$ What Is It All Really Worth? $$$ In Alexander Will's second monumental poetry collection Treasury, he explores what the actual meaning of 'wealth' is and having worth through rich rhyme and real reason. Dividing the collection to three solid Acts, he uses three distinct modes of expression to approach the multi-faceted meaning of wealth. In Act I, as 'the Revolutionary', Will focuses on the value of conscious community activism to help solve the current issues of the African Diaspora such as poverty, racial injustice, and colonization. In Act II, through the eyes of 'the Broker', he departs from activism and deals with the almighty dollar and accumulating material wealth, which inevitably plunges him into the underworld of blind ambition, greed, shady situations, lust, and emotional despair. Finally in Act III, from the heightened viewpoint of 'the Initiate', his poems journey through the teachings of ancient knowledge, wisdom, understanding, and self-realization to discover the true wealth he has been missing all along. An added feature to this artistic poetry novel is the 'Treasurer's Commentary', where, just like in his previous collection Museum, Will provides the background of and insight into each piece. Overflowing with meaning, metaphor, and few moments of madness, Treasury is a lyrical luxury and a valuable investment to have in one's collection of assets.
