Dave and Patti have been sweethearts since high school. When Dave wins an athletic scholarship to an out-of-town university, Patti enrolls in his new university and follows him there hoping that their relationship will blossom. She wants romance, love, and marriage. Dave becomes so focused on football and his engineering studies that he seems to be incapable of taking their relationship to the next level.
