WHEN LEGENDS RUN FREE features a team of high-achieving cross country runners who strive for success under the guidance of Coach John Mosley, whose fundamental idea is "Good is the greatest enemy of excellence." There is an ROTC guy with a feisty gymnastics girlfriend and a teammate who doesn't use his real name. Things get serious when the school's administration moves from NCAA Division II to Division I.
