Whistler has always been a tough, old farmer from Nebraska, ready to take on anything. Life in the nineteenth century, however, is anything but easy, and in his later years he finds himself isolated, lonesome, separated from his wife, and wondering if things will ever get better. But when he accidentally summons an angel to his side, things only get worse.
