Bag om Who Is Not Afraid of the Lunatics?
"Who is not afraid of the lunatics? "is narration of a young literature teacher who's very sensitive to what happens around him and suffering from those who are indifferent to realities. People call him lunatic due to his sensitiveness. He lives with his wife, who is working in a yellow newspaper and she reads him letters of audiences of magazine about their misfortunes, they always argue about these letters together. Arman - the main protagonist - essays to guide the society as much as he can. In school, tries to talk about sexual relations which is a taboo in Iran. He sees himself responsible to make his students well aware (of) these issues. Sometimes he passes his afternoons talking with his neighbor who is an alone old man. The old man has problem in his Larynx and talks through a microphone. On one hand, Arman likes this old man and on the other hand, he doesn't like him due to he cannot get access to his past, the old man doesn't give any special info of himself.One day, an unknown female called Arman and informed him about an affair issue regarding his wife, alleging she's doing this just for the sake of him, the woman never introduces herself. This problem causes mental complexes for Arman and he thinks about killing his wife, but once he arrives home, he realizes the old neighbor man has been murdered.Problems and the issues of school along with suspicion (of) his wife and also murder of his neighbor, put a lot of pressure to him and meanwhile we realized that Arman has affair with another woman. After lots of implications, Arman argues with himself why he has to suspect his wife just for a call, although he can swear on her innocence. Therefore, he tried to find the intruder, and then tries to forget about it and comes back to normal life. After reading some more pages, we realize that he never had any relation with any other woman and it was imagine. In the meanwhile, he got informed that person who has been murdered was not the old man, and this makes him more confused. In the end, novel ends finding him confused and wandering in streets. This book tries to show a distressed society in which purposeful people are wandered and confused as well.
