When Jake gets his girlfriend Julia pregnant, all their plans and dreams for the future fall apart. Determined to put things right, Jake drops out of school and takes a job to support them. Their sparse existence in a cramped studio apartment is difficult at best, but when the baby arrives their situation becomes dire. Before long, the strain of marriage, the baby, and a stack of unpaid bills takes its toll.
